There’s No Place Like Home
As much as I love traveling, I love coming home and being able to sleep in my own bed and use my own shower and bathroom. I don’t care how much of a 5-star hotel a place is, for some reason, I can never get a good night’s sleep in one. While I was in Orlando for the past couple of days, I was able to mix & mingle with some of the biggest Advertising & Marketing executives there are in the business. Forbes, NFL, Zappos, CNN, Facebook and countless other companies were in attendance. I can’t even count how many hands I shook or how many bottles of purell I went through (obviously not enough b/c I feel a cold coming on).
I’m grateful that my job allows me to travel, mainly because it allows me the opportunity to get a break from other things in my life. After the networking functions I attended this week, I spent the majority of my time relaxing at the pool, or sitting in my room in total peace and quiet. I got a chance to spend time with my cousin, who up until this past July, I hadn’t seen in about 10+ years. She broke out the photo album and we bothed laughed at how very 80’s and 90’s we looked back then. She was the quintessential MC Lyte wannabe, and I was this skater girl, with little shorts on & socks up to my knees and a skateboard by my side.
In any event, this next week will be a detox week for me. Detoxing from alcohol and certain meats I swore off, where now I have to start from scratch because I had a meat relapse. I swear, everytime I travel for work or pleasure, I come back 5 lbs heavier! I guess room service and dinner/lunch receptions for 4 days in a row will do that to a person!
So, that was my weekend, how was yours?
