Dumb Ass of The Week: Ann Coulter

If you look up the definition of  vitriolic in the dictionary, don’t be surprised if you see this photo:

Earlier this week on The Today Show, it was Matt Lauer vs Ann Coulter.

Not only did he attempt to discuss her ‘ban’ from The Today Show, but also her most recent book, “Guilty”. In “Guilty” Ann takes a brutal stab at single mothers and non-nuclear families and how they seem to be the downfall of society. What upsets me the most about most conservatives like Ann, is that they speak in absolutes. Her arguments continue to sound uneducated, homophobic and racist. I will give her credit for one thing, she manages to stay relevant in the press because of her leftist views.

What Ann seems to fail to realize is that there are tons of  non-traditional families out there, who are quite possibly doing better than what she may deem ‘traditional’. There are single women & single men raising children on their own, who have became productive members of society. These are the children who have gone on to college, graduated with terminal degrees, established themselves in the world and continue to lead productive lives. One person who immediately comes to mind is President-Elect, Barack Obama.

What amazes me is that she continues to shove her views down the throats of America. Fine. Have your own opinions, that’s what Freeedom of Speech is all about, but, back those views & opinions with facts not with emotions and leftist rhetoric. Instead of labeling single mothers (funny how she forgot about single fathers) as the ‘downfall’ of society, since she’s always willing to call a spade a spade, be a little more correct in that statement and label a society that has been ran by an incapable government as the downfall of society.

Let Ann tell it, single parents are not capable of raising productive citizens. Gay couples should not be able to get married, and are not able to raise productive children as well. Last time I checked, the divorce rates in the U.S are forever increasing over the years, and those children involved in those divorced marriages are now also part of single families. Let me not forget to mention that there are children who come from dysfunctional two parent households, and guess what, chances are they also have a larger chance at being an ‘unproductive’ member of society.

What Ann fails to realize is that it doesn’t boil down to how many parents are in the household, it comes down to the parent being able to instill strong values and work ethic into their children. I’ve seen so many two-parent households  fail at doing that for their children.

I don’t even have to think hard about an example to use. Look at 16 year old Bristol Palin who recently gave birth. What values did her family instill in her? Last time I checked, she came from a conservative, two parent household. There goes Ann’s statistics right out the window. In any event, it amazes me that her glib commentary has brought her this far, but sometimes I wish her jaw was still wired shut, just so it could spare me the agony in having to hear her speak. Just think, if only her mother swallowed, we wouldn’t have to deal with her.
