Computer Love

In this age of technology and social networking, internet dating has become a very lucrative business. Every day there’s a new Match, E-Harmony, Yahoo Personals popping up on the internet. There is even ‘niche’ dating sites, if your tastes are reflected around interracial dating you can find that, or if you’re into the big & beautiful, there’s a site for you too.
Nowadays, you don’t have to leave you house to find a date or a quick hook up. You can go the free route with Craigslist, or pay the subscription fees that other sites charge. Either way, the dating world is basically at the tips of your fingertips.
But is there a quality v. quantity issue in regards to internet dating? In the DC area, it’s not uncommon to run across someone who knows someone else that you’ve met, coupled with the internet, the chances of dating someone your girlfriend or guy friend has dated, is pretty much bound to happen. It’s like a pokemon trading game. You have to pass a photo around to a female friend and ask, “Do you know him? Have you dated him?”.
I remember years ago, I met an ex & still current friend on Black Planet. Back then I guess I was more open to meeting people that route, but nowadays, I’m a lot hesistant to. After hearing horror story after horror story, it’s more so a turn off to me. I think I could literally write chapters from various experiences that some of my friends have had, male & female.
So, my question is, if you’ve done the internet dating thing, what is your biggest complaint? If you haven’t ventured out to find a date via the internet, what is your main reason in not doing so?
