Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler

If you’re not familiar with the saying “Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler”, it’s French for “Let the good times roll” and for the past two weeks, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. This summer has already started out to be a great one so far. I spent last week in New Orleans attending a conference and seeing the sights of the Big Easy. I think since being there for that week, I’ve probably put on about 5 extra pounds that I did not need, because of the food! Everything from Beignets, Shrimp Etouffee, Po’boy sandwiches, Hurricanes and everything else in between was on my plate, more than once.
A day after coming back from New Orleans, I found myself heading down to Ocean City, Maryland for the 4th of July holiday. It was definitely a last minute, but much needed trip. I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed a beach & boardwalk, until I got there. It reminded me of all the summers I spent as a kid at the Jersey shore with my grandmother. All of the kids would pack into her back of her brown station wagon, and spend the next two hours waiting in anticipation to arrive at the beach. I guess this past week, I felt the same way again. Sitting in the back seat of my brother-in-law’s car, with two kids, and everyone hoping traffic wouldn’t turn a 2 hour trip into a 4 hour trip.
This summer, because of the traveling and work deadlines, my time has been spent less on blogging. Needless to say, my posts here will be sporadic at best. I’m going to make sure this summer that I “Laissez les on temps rouler”, because tomorrow is never promised to any one.
However you spend your summer, I hope you have an enjoyable one!
